It's like The Sartorialist, but for REAL real people (i.e. people wearing H&M, Steve Madden AND Chanel) and it tells you everything they are wearing and about what they like, do, listen to, etc. Voyeuristic, yes, but totally addictive! Tier1, October 24th, 2008 Internap starts fall lineup of wins with fashion site Jim Davis Internap has a new customer for CDN service that rolls up social networking, advertising, and video into a tidy service. BeautifulStranger.TV is a website that turns around the usual fashion magazine equation to feature videos of site members dressed to impress other audience goers. Featured videos offer embedded links to the sites of mentioned merchants (think Nordstrom and Rolex, for example). User-submitted photos offer links to various products (what they are wearing, eating, what kind of cell phones they carry, etc.) shown in the photo. Internap is delivering video for the site, which came as a client through IT consulting firm Control Group Inc. T1R take As an example of the potential of the combination of social networking, video and commerce, BeautifulStranger.TV is one of the better examples T1R has seen. As for volume of traffic, the site isn't big by any means, though it certainly has potential from a CDN perspective. Which leads us to another point: one of the biggest growth categories for CDNs in 2007 was social networking. Internap's win reminds us of how few customer wins have been announced in this vertical by CDNs in 2008. We're still positive on the growth prospects for video through social networking sites, but we'd expect that there are fewer sites that are going to be able to outlast a weak economy these days. How quickly tastes change.
